A large tornado passed one mile south of Hill City on June 9, 2005, and another hit just north on June 20, 2011, and on June 26, 2012 the temperature reached 115 degrees Fahrenheit. Tornadoes, extreme heat, blizzards, and long outages can disrupt a city of 1,403, and crews and families need showers, restrooms, and sleepers while repairs are made.
24/7 Emergency Remote Man Camp Basecamp leasing in Hill City provides sleepers, showers, laundry, and restroom trailers on generator power.
Major History: The Oldest Town in the County
The first post office was established in September 1878, and Hill City became the county seat in 1880; by 1915 it had 647 inhabitants. On June 26, 2012 a temperature of 115 degrees broke a June record that had stood since the Dust Bowl, on June 30, 1933, and the town was the hottest city in the United States for four days in a row. Farm, highway, and utility contractors rent sleepers, combos, and laundry near the work.

Planning a Trailer Site in Hill City
Send us the address, dates, crew size, and a photo of the pad. For a hot-weather site we confirm cooling, shade, and power before delivery. Our Portland, Oregon hub delivers into Kansas on request, and delivery is listed separately on the written quote. A written quote lists each unit and the delivery and setup.
Short-Term and Long-Term Leasing in Hill City
Most Hill City customers start with a week or a month and extend as the work runs. Longer terms are cheaper per unit: a 20ft accommodation unit is an estimated $2,995 for 1 to 6 days and an estimated $2,195 to $2,495 for three months or more. If your Graham County project slips, tell us and we adjust the lease rather than pulling units. Delivery, setup, and pickup are quoted on their own line.
Permits and Site Considerations in Hill City
Temporary trailers in Hill City may need review by the city or Graham County. Food-service units are reviewed by health officials. We help you identify what your site needs before delivery.
Delivery, Setup, and Pickup in Hill City
Our crew plans each Hill City delivery around the highways of northwestern Kansas. Plan on about an hour to set most units, about five hours for a kitchen or dish trailer, 5 to 15 minutes for stairs, and four to six hours for ramps. You get one schedule covering delivery, setup, servicing, and pickup in Graham County. Worth knowing: extreme heat and storms can change timing, so we confirm conditions.
Power, Water, and Wastewater Planning in Hill City
Tell us what is on site in Hill City and we match the plan to it. Shower containers need 120V/240V at 200 amps, laundry trailers 240V single phase at 200 amps, kitchens 220V single phase at 200 to 220 amps, and refrigerated trailers 220V at 40 to 60 amps. Where there are no hookups, generator trailers, water tanks, and greywater bladders with scheduled pump-outs make the camp self-sufficient.
The Hottest City Four Days Running
In June 2012 Hill City was the hottest city in the United States for four days in a row, with temperatures of 114, 111, 115, and 115 degrees. Workers in that heat need shade, cooling, and clean water. A shower trailer and cooled sleepers on a pad near the work keep a crew safe, and we confirm power and shade before delivery.
After the Funnel Cloud
Two large tornadoes passed close to town in 2005 and 2011. Storm response in a county seat of 1,403 depends on outside help, and a camp of sleepers, showers, laundry, and a kitchen on high ground gives that help a base. We tie down units and remove them when repairs end.
Scenario: A Summer Storm Repair Crew
Imagine a utility contractor with a 20-person crew restoring lines after a summer storm. Ten bunk bed sleepers with cooling, two shower and restroom trailers, and a laundry trailer on a pad near the work, served daily, would support the crew. That is the shower trailer lease in Hill City we can plan from your headcount.
